A car accident at a New York intersection leads to injuries

The holiday season, and Christmas Eve in particular, can mean higher traffic on highways everywhere and, therefore, a greater chance of people being involved in car accidents. A car accident on Christmas Eve in New York recently lead to injuries for one of the victims. It also led to criminal charges for one of the drivers.

The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. There was a report of a collision at an intersection, and police responded to the scene of the crash. When they came upon the scene, they interviewed one of the drivers involved. While interviewing the 42-year-old driver, authorities determined he was drunk at the time of the crash; however, no specifics were given as to why police believed he was intoxicated.

The other driver involved in the car accident needed to be transported from the scene of the accident. He was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment of the injuries he sustained in the accident. The 42-year-old driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated as well as other unspecified infractions.

The driver who was injured in this car accident may have cause to file a personal injury suit against the intoxicated driver in a New York civil court to seek restitution for the injuries he suffered. If successful, this suit could result in the award of monetary damages that may cover the cost of any immediate or on-going medical treatments. He may also be awarded damages to cover the financial strain of any lost wages.
