3 pedestrians left with serious injuries in New York accident

A recent accident in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn ended with injuries to both those in the cars involved and pedestrians. Overall, authorities reported that seven people were injured in the pedestrian accident.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Kingston Avenue and Eastern Parkway at around 7 p.m. when a black Hyundai traveling on Kingston collided with a white Infiniti on Eastern Parkway. Due to the collision, the Infiniti jumped over the curb and hit three pedestrians, two women and a man.

The driver and passenger of the Hyundai suffered minor injuries, and the two occupants of the Infiniti refused medical attention. The injured pedestrians suffered more severe injuries: A woman was listed in critical condition due to head trauma, and a man also suffered head trauma. The final victim, a woman, received severe leg trauma. A witness also said that the woman’s leg appeared to have been severed and that one of the pedestrians had been trapped between the Infiniti and a light post that it collided with.

While those in the cars seem to have only suffered minor injuries in this accident, the pedestrians seem to have all suffered injuries that may be serious. Part of the healing process for these victims may include seeking compensation for their injuries and other damages. However, receiving this compensation can sometimes prove daunting because of insurance companies and the task of determining who was at fault in addition to other factors. A personal injury attorney may be able to help those injured in this accident or in an accident like it negotiate a fair settlement for their injuries and other damages by evaluating witness reports and the results of a police investigation in order to determine the liable party.
