Not all tragic car accidents occur on the roadways. While there are certainly a high number of car accidents on New York highways and city streets, there are incidents where innocent bystanders and pedestrians suffer from injuries that prove to be fatal stemming from car accidents that occur near those city streets. One such tragic car accident recently occurred in Brooklyn, New York.
Around rush hour on a Monday night, a 58-year-old man was driving southbound. For a reason yet to be disclosed, the man’s vehicle went up onto the sidewalk of the city street. The Nissan Sentra overturned on the sidewalk.
In the midst of the accident, the Nissan hit a 50-year-old pedestrian. He was found to be both unresponsive and unconscious at the scene. The man died from the injuries after he was taken to a hospital for treatment. The driver and a 3-year-old with him in the Nissan also needed medical attention after the crash. There is currently an investigation into the incident.
The car accident which took the life of the innocent pedestrian undoubtedly will cause trauma and financial strain for the family left behind. When an accident such as this occurs in New York and a family is left to deal with the emotional and financial devastation created by a car accident, that family may have options for alleviating some of that strain and suffering. A wrongful death suit may be warranted in some cases and may help a family move forward and out from underneath medical bills, funeral bills and the financial hardship lost wages may have created for them.
