Racing on roadways can not only lead to criminal charges for any drivers involved but can also lead to injuries for drivers and passengers. Recently, a woman was racing on a New York roadway when she caused a car accident. The crash led to a severe injury for her and also injuries for her passengers.

According to reports, the 19-year-old was racing with another vehicle when she lost control. The Acura she was driving hit a utility pole. The driver she was racing reportedly drove off from the scene.

The 19-year-old suffered a head injury in the crash that was described as severe. Inside her vehicle was a 20-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man. They were both transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries they sustained in the car accident. The driver has been charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree assault and other vehicle violations.

Regardless of the criminal violations the woman faces due to the alleged racing, the injured victims in this car accident can possibly pursue civil action against the driver whose actions put their lives at risk. In New York, a civil personal injury case can help injured victims get the monetary compensation they may need in order to ensure recovery from the injuries sustained when someone else is behind the wheel. This type of monetary compensation can help victims pay medical bills, any on-going rehabilitative costs, lost wages if they need to miss work and other expenses that victims may incur as a direct result of a car accident.
