Personal protective equipment saves lives on jobs

There is always construction going on in Manhattan and the outer boroughs. New York City construction workers have to work in the heat and freezing cold. It's a dangerous industry that is certainly not for the faint of heart. In fact, it can be downright deadly.

Construction workers may be issued personal protective equipment (PPE) like safety glasses when they start working for a company. Other PPE may need to be purchased by the workers, e.g., steel-toed boots, hardhats.

Since this PPE can make the difference between workers going home at the end of the day and never going anywhere else again, it's important to always use the recommended or required safety equipment when working on a construction site in the Big Apple.

But workers should understand that even with the use of their PPE, they could still suffer injuries on-the-job. When that happens, it is imperative to take immediate action. In addition to seeking medical treatment for your injuries, you will also need to notify your boss that you were injured if it is not apparent.

This accomplishes two things. It establishes that the injury and subsequent damage you suffer occurred at work while you were carrying out your usual and customary duties. It also clears the way for your medical care related to the injury to be covered by workers' compensation benefits.

We can help you apply for financial benefits as well while you recuperate from your work-related injuries. If your employer denies your workers' compensation claim, we can file an immediate appeal so that you can receive the assistance to which you're entitled when you most need it.
