Head-on crash allegedly due to drunk driving

A two-vehicle crash in New York critically injured one driver and seriously injured two others on Dec. 8 when one vehicle hit the other head on. Multiple firefighting units were on hand to assist sheriff's deputies at the crash site, and officials indicated that alcohol was involved.

New York doctor indicted for leaving scene of deadly car crash

A cardiologist who fled the scene of a car crash that left an aspiring nurse dead on June 14 is now facing upgraded charges. The 55-year-old doctor was indicted on Dec. 1 on charges of manslaughter as well as other charges. After authorities caught him, they reportedly observed that he appeared to be unsteady while standing, had slurred speech, smelled of alcohol and had red eyes. After a test was performed, it allegedly revealed that alcohol was in his system 90 minutes after the crash occurred and that his blood alcohol level was .12 percent. The physician had been drinking at a gentleman's club prior to the accident; police charged him with driving while intoxicated.

Wrong-way crash kills 2 in New York

Investigators with the Suffolk County Police reported that both drivers were killed in a head-on wrong-way collision that occurred in East Farmingdale on Nov. 23. Authorities reported that the accident occurred around 11 p.m. on Route 109 in the eastbound lanes of the highway.

Several injured in NYC crash on the FDR

On Thursday, Nov. 13, around 4 a.m., a Kia Sedan headed the wrong way down Franklin D. Roosevelt Drive and hit two other vehicles head-on. The Kia was driven by a 33-year-old woman. She and her 28-year-old passenger were taken to Bellevue Hospital with serious injuries. Two other people were injured in the crash as well.

New York DA files charges following fatal crash

Kings County officials recently reported that two men in New York will face multiple charges for their roles in an alleged DUI accident in August that claimed the life of a 32-year-old woman. Officials said that both of the men were intoxicated at the time of the incident.

New York native and comedian Tracy Morgan has filed a lawsuit in New Jersey's U.S. District Court along with three other plaintiffs against corporate behemoth Walmart over the June 7 wreck on the New Jersey Turnpike. That accident killed a member of Morgan's entourage and seriously injured him.

Fatal construction site accident occurs at billion-dollar plant

A recent fatality at a manufacturing plant for computer chips in Malta temporarily halted construction while the death was investigated. The spokesman for GlobalFoundries issued a news release confirming a fatal accident had occurred at the $8.5 billion site, but the area was now secure without further risk. He added that the production of the computer chips had not been impacted.
