2 injured in 2-truck rear-end accident

An accident between a garbage truck and a delivery truck on April 22 resulted in serious injuries to two individuals. Witnesses at the scene of the auto accident, which occurred near New York City's Columbus Circle at about 5:30 a.m., say that the privately owned garbage truck hit the delivery truck from the back.

Wrong-way driver kills female passenger

A motorist was charged with criminal negligent homicide after killing a woman while driving the wrong way on the New York Tappan Zee Bridge. The multi-car crash occurred on July 23, 2013. The 69-year-old defendant was arraigned and jailed in March 2014. According to police, the man was driving south in an SUV on the northbound side of the bridge, before colliding head on with a Nissan driven by a 57-year-old man. The Nissan rolled over several times as a result of the impact of the collision.

New York accident leaves two critically injured

Witnesses and the FDNY say that two people were critically injured in a car accident in the Murray Hill neighborhood in Queens on New Year's Eve. Authorities took two injured drivers to New York Hospital Queens following the car accident. Police provided little information, but witnesses were able to describe the scene.

Icy conditions blamed for New York pileup

Roads in several states became dangerously icy during the recent cold weather, leading to multiple car crashes and traffic jams. Thirty-five people were injured on Dec. 9 in Westchester County on the Bronx River Parkway when hundreds of cars were unable to stop. Extremely slick roads combined with the downward slope of the road caused the cars to lose control, even though most were traveling at very slow speeds.

1 dies in New York smash up, 3 others injured

On Nov. 24, an accident that unfolded on the Bruckner Expressway in the Bronx left three people hurt and another dead. The accident occurred shortly after 6:30 a.m. when a disabled vehicle in the southbound lanes was rear ended by a motorist. It is unknown whether anyone will face criminal charges related to the event.

Mother killed, kids injured in head-on collision

A New York man has been charged with vehicular homicide after an accident that left a mother dead and her husband and children with life-threatening injuries. The accident occurred Nov. 24 in Clay, Onondaga County.

Concrete barrier may have prevented fatal collision

The president of the Federation of Taxi Drivers says that a fatal crash in the Bronx could have been prevented. For years, the group has been a proponent of installing concrete medians on New York City roads to prevent car accidents. Recent statements by the group's president were made after an accident occurred that involved an SUV, a livery cab and another vehicle.

New York bus crashed at dangerous intersection, neighbors say

A collision between a school bus transporting special needs children and a pickup truck on Staten Island happened Oct. 30 just before 8 a.m. at an intersection neighbors say they have been complaining about for years. The bus driver, a matron and the four children on the bus were all hospitalized with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver, a New York Fire Department captain, and his teenage daughter, who was a passenger in the truck, were also hospitalized. All are expected to make full recoveries.
