Long Island charter bus wreck injures teens

Authorities investigating the cause of a charter bus collision on Sunday, April 8 have shifted their focus to the non-commercial GPS device installed on the bus. It allegedly failed to warn the driver of a low-clearance overpass on Long Island's Southern State Parkway, which lead directly to the crash.

Unlicensed driver kills 1, injures others in wreck

An unlicensed driver, 37, crashed into motorists and a motorcyclist last weekend on the Long Island Expressway, killing one and injuring eight others, police report. Police charged him with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle (third degree), driving while ability impaired by drugs and criminal possession of a controlled substance (seventh degree).

Lever may have shut off engine in New York City copter crash

According to New York City authorities, the pilot of a helicopter taking sightseeing tourists aloft that crash-landed on March 11 near Gracie Manor in the East River told those investigating the fatal collision that a lever may have been inadvertently triggered. It's hypothesized that some of the passengers' gear may have hooked on the lever that cuts off the engine in instances of fire.
