New York amusement park aficionados may want to know about a tragic accident in which a woman fell from the Texas Giant roller coaster at a Six Flags theme park. According to emergency personnel who responded to the scene of the accident, the woman was pronounced dead upon their arrival around 6:45 p.m. on July 19. Six Flags Entertainment Corporation – the parent company of the amusement park – released an e-mailed statement regarding the incident and has initiated an examination of the roller coaster involved.

The Arlington, Texas, Police Department is investigating the woman’s death. According to a spokeswoman for Six Flags, the Texas Giant roller coaster has been shut down since the time of the accident. The company is declining to provide any further information until their investigation on the incident and the equipment is complete. The spokeswoman did share that the company is committed to using every possible resource to determine the cause of the accident.

Eyewitnesses have reported to Dallas Morning News that the woman’s safety restraint may not have been properly tightened. Park visitors who saw the accident reported that the woman was thrown off of the ride as it went around a turn. According to the official Six Flags website, the 2-year-old rebuild of the original 1990 coaster is 4,920 feet long and 14 stories high at its highest point.

Survivors of those lost in tragic accidents caused by a negligent property owner may benefit from the advice of a personal injury attorney who is knowledgeable in New York law. Such a lawyer may be able to help determine whether a lawsuit can be filed and what amount of compensation should be pursued.
