A man was arrested and charged after hitting a woman with his truck on the Van Wyck Expressway in Queens and then fleeing the scene. The hit-and-run accident occurred last weekend in the early hours of the morning.
Police responded to a call regarding an auto and pedestrian accident on 87-07 Van Wyck Expressway in the Kew Gardens section of Queens. They found the victim unconscious at the scene. She had trauma to her body, indicating that she had been struck by a vehicle. The 31-year-old woman was transported to Jamaica Hospital in New York, New York, where she was pronounced dead due to her serious injuries.
Police arrested the 34-year-old man after they found out that he was the driver of the truck that hit the victim and sped away from the scene. He was charged with manslaughter by recklessly causing death to the woman. The accident may greatly affect the victim’s family, as they might suffer from their loss. This type of fatal pedestrian accident happens quite frequently on highways and roads.
