On Nov. 24, an accident that unfolded on the Bruckner Expressway in the Bronx left three people hurt and another dead. The accident occurred shortly after 6:30 a.m. when a disabled vehicle in the southbound lanes was rear ended by a motorist. It is unknown whether anyone will face criminal charges related to the event.
Reports said that the first car broke down before its driver managed to pull over into the right lane of the expressway. Two male occupants of the vehicle exited to take a look at the car from the outside when an oncoming Honda smashed into their stopped Camry. The force of the car collision threw one of the men, a 47-year-old from Brooklyn, over the guardrail. He landed on the street below and was later declared deceased onsite. The other man, a 22-year-old, was rushed to Jacobi Hospital for the treatment of serious head injuries, but his prognosis has not been disclosed.
The motorist who hit the vehicle and another passenger from the Camry were treated for non-severe injuries and have been reported as being in stable condition. Police said that the accident, which took place near 138th Street, was still being looked into at the time of reporting.
Vehicle accident injuries are often accompanied by mental anguish. Those who survive may face post-traumatic stress disorder or debilitating depression brought on by the loss of their friends or loved ones, which could also negatively affect family members. Insurers may fight against paying for post-accident medical treatments unless the injured parties can prove driver liability, which isn’t always possible when one is hurt. By investigating accident reports and compiling evidence, attorneys may be able to help sufferers work through the recovery process.
