A multiple-vehicle accident that took place in New York on March 31 left a total of seven people injured. According to the report, the accident took place on Clarkson Avenue in Brooklyn at approximately 1:30 a.m.
Police stated that a Toyota SUV was traveling on Clarkson Avenue when it struck a parked car. The vehicle continued driving towards Bedford Avenue, striking four other vehicles in the process. The impact of one of these collisions caused a vehicle to completely overturn.
A female witness who observed one of the collisions stated that the SUV driver was traveling too fast to stop the car. She stated that the driver struck a car that was attempting to turn onto Clarkson Avenue, totaling the vehicle. The driver of the SUV did not stop and drove off.
In total, seven people who were in the vehicles that were struck were transported to a nearby hospital. The extent of their injuries was not known, though the report stated that two people were in serious condition. The driver of the SUV reportedly took off on foot following the collisions. At the time the report was released, police were still investigating the accident. They stated that they were still searching for the driver who was accused of causing the string of accidents.
In this case, those who were injured in the motor vehicle accidents may be eligible to file a personal injury lawsuit against that driver once police determine who that driver was. An injured individual may file the lawsuit at any time before the state’s statute of limitations for filing an auto accident lapses. By filing this lawsuit, the injured person may be able to seek compensation for a wide range of financial damages, including medical bills, lost wages and lost or damaged property.
