According to a report, an auto-pedestrian accident in Rochester on Oct. 19 injured two men. Rochester police believe that a drunken driver caused the crash. The police stated that the accident occurred at about 2 a.m. when a 21-year-old Fairport woman driving eastbound on Park Avenue apparently lost control of her vehicle and struck a pair of men who were walking eastbound on a sidewalk. The pedestrians, who were both 23-years-old, were not seriously injured in the accident.
Emergency medical crews who arrived at the scene transported the two injured pedestrians to Strong Memorial Hospital where they were treated for injuries to their legs. Law enforcement officials who arrived at the scene took the driver who was allegedly responsible for the crash into custody on charges of driving while intoxicated.
Whenever a pedestrian is hit by a drunk driver, the pedestrian may suffer serious injuries. In many cases, a victim may experience debilitating pain and lengthy treatments while on the road to recovery. During the recovery period, the victim may also be saddled with large medical expenses while being unable to earn a living.
An attorney who has knowledge in the area of personal injury lawsuits might assist a victim of a pedestrian accident in holding an at-fault driver responsible for the crash and the monetary damages suffered as a result. After reviewing police documentation and witness statements, the attorney may be able to build a case that evaluates the damages suffered by a client and demonstrates the liability of the other party. In cases that involve an allegedly intoxicated driver, the attorney might focus on evidence that supports allegations of impairment.
