Construction site accidents can result in head injuries

Construction sites can not only be dangerous for construction workers, but they can also be dangerous for pedestrians if the proper precautions are not taken. One woman was recently hospitalized after being hit by falling debris. Luckily, help is available in New York for individuals who have been injured in construction site accidents.

At about 1 p.m., a woman was walking down the street as she passed by a building under construction. However, two witnesses near the scene claim that as the woman walked by the building, a piece of debris fell out of a seventh floor window. The debris was a piece of 2 x 4 lumber, which hit the woman in the head.

When emergency responders arrived at the scene, the woman was lying on the sidewalk. She was reportedly bleeding, but she seemed to be alert. She had to be hospitalized for her injury, and the extent of that injury is still unknown at this time. Unfortunately, when a person suffers a head injury such as this, it can often times have harsh side effects and require repeated medical visits.

The police claim that the building did have work permits that were posted on the door; however, the Department of Buildings was not immediately called out for an investigation, which could indicate that whatever construction was going on was not authorized. If the construction project had not been properly approved by the department, then the woman could name the workers as well as their employer as defendants in a personal injury suit. Anyone in New York who has suffered a head injury or any other type of injury due to construction site accidents can also pursue litigation in the hopes of being compensated for damages that they suffered.
