Recently, a college student suffered serious injuries after being hit twice by two separate vehicles. The RIT student was the victim of a pedestrian accident. The incident in New York resulted in serious accident injuries for the young man.
The tragedy around 3 a.m. on Feb. 13. The 21-year-old was walking along the road when a car struck him. The driver of that vehicle pulled over. While the victim was laying in the road, another vehicle came along and hit him.
The man was actually dragged under the second vehicle until it came to a stop. Authorities on the scene were able to free the victim from under the second car, and he was taken to a medical facility for treatment of injuries. The second driver, a 20-year-old female who is also an RIT student, was arrested and has been charged with DWI. The victim is said to have life-threatening injuries and is in guarded condition.
The student and his family will undoubtedly have to deal with mounting medical bills and possibly other financial ramifications as a result of the serious accident injuries he suffered. As he struggles to recover, a personal injury lawsuit may be filed on his behalf in a New York civil court against those believed responsible for his injuries. If successful, a judgment for monetary damages may be awarded and could help to alleviate any financial strain caused by the tragic accident. Awarded damages may also help to address pain and suffering along with emotional distress caused by the accident.
