Worker files multi-million dollar lawsuit after accident

A construction worker on the 2nd Avenue subway in New York was injured in an on-the-job accident in August and has now filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the state and MTA Capital Construction. The incident was apparently one of many worker accidents in recent years, as records show that the MTA has been cited more than 18 times for safety violations.

Driving and texting - dangerous combination

Along with the convenience and flexibility afforded by mobile communication devices comes the increased probability of a driver being distracted from the road, possibly causing an accident that results in injury to a bystanding party. Statistics provided by the Federal Communications Commission highlight how driving has changed in recent years due to cellphone use. Woman critically injured following New York collision

On Sept. 2, a pedestrian suffered critical injuries in a Cobble Hill accident involving two vehicles, reportedly. According to police, the accident transpired at approximately 12:40 p.m. That is when one of the vehicles attempted to turn right from Court Street onto Atlantic Avenue and collided with a flatbed truck that was also attempting to turn right. Consequently, the driver of the first vehicle lost control and careened onto the northwest sidewalk of the intersection, striking a 29-year-old woman, officials said.
