Head-on collisions can be particularly devastating for those who are unwittingly the victim of someone crossing the lanes into on-coming traffic. One such car accident recently occurred on a New York roadway. The ensuing aftermath left one woman in critical condition.
The head-on car accident happened late on a Saturday night. A 68-year-old woman was a passenger in a car driven by her 74-year-old husband. A car coming towards them crossed over the center line and hit their vehicle head-on, although it remains unclear why exactly that car crossed the center line into on-coming traffic.
The wife in the car that was hit head-on needed to be treated for the injuries she sustained in the accident. She reportedly had broken bones and lacerations to her head. The husband was released after being evaluated. The teens who were in the vehicle that hit the couple needed medical care also for lacerations to their heads and faces. The road was closed for hours after the car accident.
According to police, there may be charges filed as a result of the car accident; however, specific information about what charges was not given. The woman was who injured also has the option to pursue civil action against the driver in a New York civil court. A successful civil personal injury case may mean she can be awarded damages that could cover the cost of medical treatment, lost wages or other monetary losses she suffered as a result of being the victim of a head-on car accident.
