A chain reaction or rear-end car accident can happen in the blink of an eye. As occurred in recent rear-end car accident in New York, innocent victims are left seeking medical care for injuries caused by the negligence of others. Those injured parties have the right to seek legal relief for the monetary damages sustained in the aftermath of a serious car accident.
The accident happened on a recent Saturday morning. A 68-year-old driver slowed her vehicle in the road as another car was making what was described as an abrupt turn. When that driver slowed, she was hit from behind by a vehicle operated by a 20-year-old.
Two passengers, ages 17 and 47,were injured in the vehicle that was rear-ended. A 20-year-old passenger in the vehicle of the driver deemed to have been at fault was also injured. All of the injured victims were taken to a medical facility for treatment of their injuries.
A driver has a legal responsibility to take basic measures to ensure the safety of his or her passengers. In a rear-end car accident, the passenger injured in the trailing car and any injured victims in the car that was hit may be able to pursue claims for damages in a New York civil court. In most instances, the driver of a vehicle that rear ends another vehicle is deemed liable for the monetary damages caused. Any financial damages received may help injured parties deal with mounting medical bills, rehabilitative therapies and/or lost wages sustained as a result of the injuries suffered in the car accident.
