Mother killed, kids injured in head-on collision

A New York man has been charged with vehicular homicide after an accident that left a mother dead and her husband and children with life-threatening injuries. The accident occurred Nov. 24 in Clay, Onondaga County.

Driver kills 2 pedestrians in New York

An accident in Queens at 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 11 resulted in the deaths of two men. According to police, a 22-year-man lost control of his vehicle and drove over the curb. The man's car collided with the two Elmhurst men who were on the sidewalk at the time. While an investigation was still ongoing at the time of the report, speed may have played a role in this fatal pedestrian accident.

Concrete barrier may have prevented fatal collision

The president of the Federation of Taxi Drivers says that a fatal crash in the Bronx could have been prevented. For years, the group has been a proponent of installing concrete medians on New York City roads to prevent car accidents. Recent statements by the group's president were made after an accident occurred that involved an SUV, a livery cab and another vehicle.

New York bus crashed at dangerous intersection, neighbors say

A collision between a school bus transporting special needs children and a pickup truck on Staten Island happened Oct. 30 just before 8 a.m. at an intersection neighbors say they have been complaining about for years. The bus driver, a matron and the four children on the bus were all hospitalized with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver, a New York Fire Department captain, and his teenage daughter, who was a passenger in the truck, were also hospitalized. All are expected to make full recoveries.

Pedestrian remembered 1 year after fatal hit-and-run

Friends and family fondly remembered a New York man who lost his life to a hit-and-run accident that happened on Oct. 23, 2012. He had just left a restaurant in Amgansett and was crossing the street at about 7:50 p.m. when he was struck and killed by a vehicle. His body went unnoticed until an East Hampton Town Councilman saw him lying on the ground. The driver remained at large for three-and-a-half months as authorities conducted a search.
